That’s right, I finally updated (overhauled) the Share Furniture website with a little help from my friends at T&S Web Design. Check it out when you get a chance. Also, I am showing (and curated) a functional art show at the Edmond Fine Arts Institute. I reached out to some of my favorite local artist/craftsmen for this one. The show includes furniture, lighting and original art of Kyle Golding, George Wilson, Joe Slack, Ron Ferrell, Hugh Meade & Klint Schor. The opening is Thursday, October 3rd 5-7 and the exhibit runs the entire month. Free admission and everyone is invited.
Plaza Festival October 1st – In celebration of the comeback of the revitalized Plaza District, the Plaza District Association is holding the only festival in Oklahoma City focusing on Oklahoma talent. Look for my tent full of abstract paintings and a few small pieces of sculpture and furniture. The festival is free and open to the public.
Film District MANifest event October 15th and 16th– MANifesto is a festival in downtown Oklahoma City celebrating the modern man. This unique event will take place on historic Film Row October 15-16 for a weekend of food, drink, shopping, games and moustache wars.
Also on view will be unique pieces of art inspired by “manly” movie classics. I will be displaying an installation piece made of recycled copiers and printers, based on the film The Terminator.
2010 was a busy year with lots of original art in OKC galleries. Here’s a brief rundown.
January: Untitled ArtSpace Form + Function show mediterranean themed dining room featuring my 6′ x 6′ two-piece leather and popular seating/table combination.
Late in the month (and snowstorm 2010) was Cafe City Arts Elevation show featuring 4 new pieces of wood/metal sculptures.
April: Oklahoma City Arts Festival special feature Rethink Recycle Redesign showing all work created with recycled or repurposed materials featuring my metal cabinet coffee table and Harley Davidson tailpipe table
July: IAO’s Rally on the Row motorcycle and scooter theme show featuring my Harley Davidson tailpipe table.
September: The Rally on the Row show featuring my Harley Davidson tailpipe table travels to the campus of East Central University.
November: Received a public art commission for three pieces of functional original art (along with friend Hugh Meade) to be displayed in City owned offices. The Brownfields project is based on recycled materials and urban living. Unveiling will be late January 2011.
The first half of 2010 has been great for gallery shows and art festivals. Now I have sculpture and furniture for sale, straight from some of the best galleries on OKC. More info and prices coming real soon.
